William Osmond Ferris, the son of William Ireland Ferris and Anne, was baptised at Brixham in March 1836.

William Ireland Ferris, an Ashburton schoolmaster, died suddenly in April 1840. He had walked to a relative's house, where he sat down, saying that he felt faint. He deteriorated rapidly, and died just as a doctor arrived. An inquest concluded that Mr Ferris had died 'By the visitation of God.'

Ann Ferris, aged 34, was buried at Ashburton in August 1826. A memorial in St Andrew's churchyard says that she is the wife of Thomas Ferris, possibly jnr.
On the same stone the death of her daughter, Mary Cumming Ferris is recorded; she was aged two and a half when she died in March 1828.

An advertisement in the Exeter Flying Post in November 1829 said that Mr Thos. Ferris jnr. [assume this is Thomas 2] of Ashburton, dealer in china and earthenware, had been appointed an agent for the Royal Exchange Assurance Office.

A headstone in St Andrew's churchyard records the death of Ann Ferris, the wife of Thomas [2], on October 3rd 1845. She was 59.

Amongst the list of bankrupts in the London Gazette on 30 August 1861 was Thomas Ferris, tailor and draper, Ashburton.

Thomas Ferris [3], a 40 year old tailor and draper, was living in East Street in 1861. With him was his wife Emma, daughters Gertrude B, Lucy, Sarah H and Emma L, and sons Alfred B, Lewis G and Henry P. Thomas employed 2 men and 3 boys.

Thomas Ferris [3], a 50 year old master tailor, was living at West End Cottage at the time of the 1871 census. With him and his wife Emma was daughter Sarah H and four sons: Lewis G, Henry P, Herbert and Arthur Thos, who was 2.

Emma Ferris, the wife of Thomas Ferris [3], died in November 1880. She was 56.
The same memorial stone records the death of Gertrude Bertha, the daughter of Thomas and Emma, in 1897, at the age of 49.

In 1901 Harriet Pearson, an 84 year old retired draper, was at Hope Villa, next to West End Cottage. With her on census night was her niece, Lucy Ferris, 47.

Thomas Ferris [3], 80, was at West End Cottage in 1901. With him was his daughter Emma and his son Arthur T.

Thomas Ferris [3] died at Ashburton in December 1901. He was 81.
A memorial in St Andrew's churchyard records that he was the husband of Emma.

Several nieces and nephews were at the funeral of Mrs Pearson, of Hope Villa, when she died in October 1905. They were: Mr H Ferris (Flixton), Miss Lucy Ferris (Ashburton), Mr A T Ferris (Ashburton), Mr Merchant (Manchester), Mr Thos. Parsons (Falmouth), Miss Emma Ferris (Ashburton), Master Basil Ferris and Mrs H P Ferris (London).

In 1911 Lucy Ferris was on the electoral roll, living at Hope Villa.
She was still there in 1924 . Emma Lavinia Ferris was also on the electoral roll at that date, living at West End Cottage

Lucy Ferris died in November 1927. Probate was granted to Emma Lairnia Ferris and Alfred Beck Ferris, commercial traveller.

The executors of Miss Lucy Ferris instructed Rendell and Sawdye to sell furniture and effects from Hope Villa in January 1928. The contents included a pianoforte by Burling and Burling, a 70 piece dinner service, Axminster carpets, mahogany furniture and an eight-day timepiece.
